It was very apparent that for years Chris Henry was battling his own demons. He has a rap sheet full of arrests and misconducts to prove it. However, no matter how bad it got for Henry somewhere in the last 12 months something finally clicked, and the troublemaker shed is layer of immaturity.

It is just a shame he didn't get more time to show who he really was to the world. Tough to know what could have been for the "new" Chris Henry... it is just a shame he did not get the chance to show what he is really all about.

COOLER TALK - NBA FINALS

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. I know many out there are still ticked off that King James and the Cavaliers are out. I know that the dream match-up of Lebron and Kobe reminds long time NBA fans of the Bird-Magic clashes. But you are going to have to let it go. The dream match-up of King James versus Kobe is out the window.

I can't blame anyone who thinks the Lakers are far and away the better team - they may be. But, isn't that what we going into the Cavaliers-Magic series? I mean the masses were swayed to believed King James was going to coast through to the championship game. NOT the case. In fact, Dwight Howard and the Magic showed the world that they are a team that deserves some attention and respect.

NBA FINALS BREAKDOWN.

- Phil Jackson has never lost a NBA Finals series if his team wins Game 1.

- Can Mickael Pietrus handle the duty of covering Kobe Bryant? It is hard to stop or slow down King James, but Pietrus seemed to disrupt James just enough , helping the Magic beat the Cavs in six games.

- Jameer Nelson has been cleared by team doctors to play in the NBA Finals. Whether not he will play a huge role, coming off a supposedly season ending shoulder injury, the idea of having their number one point guard available is a big time bonus.

- Kobe Bryant has a chip on his shoulder. It has been there since the departure of Shaq. Together they one three NBA championships and since that time, Kobe has tried to win one on his own. Following last season's meltdown by the way of the Celtics, Kobe will be the player to watch. Don't be surprised if he drops 60 in a game. He won't let anything stop him from this chance at a ring.

- Who can stop Dwight Howard underneath? Pau Gasol? Andrew Bynum? Luke Walton? Haha, just funny reading the last name again. The Cavaliers struggled inside to stop, slow down, and contain the Magic big man. They didn't really get it down and were only helped my his foul trouble. Ga-SOFT doesn't play defense, but has looked better than bad in this year's playoffs. Bynum has been a no show. And I don't think I even have to address Walton. Actually I know I don't. If Dwight can stay out of foul trouble, the Magic are a dangerous inside-out team.

Prediction. Unlike most "experts" I believe the Magic has a legit shot at stealing a ring from the Lakers. The way that Orlando has played this season, especially in the playoffs, really comes as a surprise. They have been a very good team, but our thoughts were clouded, with the hopes of a Kobe-LeBron final. After venting, I am going to take the Lakers in seven games. This will shape up to be a surprisingly entertaining series, but in Game 7, Kobe will be Kobe leading the Lakers to their 15th NBA Championship. Oh, and of course Kobe wins the MVP honors.

COOLER TALK - TAMPA BAY RAYS

ARE THE RAYS FOR REAL? Last season the Rays completed one of Major League Baseball’s most improbable runs to the postseason. They were able to makeover their image. Going from perennial AL East doormat to World Series contender, in one season. It became one of the greatest single season turn around's in Major League Baseball’s history.

Unfortunately for the American League Champion Tampa Bay Rays their cinder-fella, fairy tale story was cut short. An now with 41 games complete, the new darling Rays find themselves hovering around .500, with a record of 20-21.

It is way too early to panic, right? The biggest concern for Tampa, so far, has been its pitching staff. The two aces of the staff have not been able to be their dazzling 2008 selves. James Shields is just 3-4 on the season and has been far too inconsistent. Scott Kazmir has struggled too, allowing 10 ER’s in his last two starts (6.97 ERA).

The spark is there, fans are just looking for the fire from last season.

RAY of hope. Last season revealed just how good the Rays were. Led by big name stars as B.J. Upton, Evan Longoria, Carl Crawford, James Shields, and Scott Kazmir. So Evan Longoria’s explosive start comes as no surprise – 11HR’s and a major league leading 46 RBI’s. People will tell you they expected Longoria to lead the way.

But it is an unusual suspect making things happen for the Rays early on. Jason Bartlett’s hot bat has been a pleasant and welcomed surprise to the Rays dynamic offense early this season. So far, Bartlett boasts the third best batting average in the majors (.380), and in just 138 at-bats this season he has five homeruns (4 more than last seasons one homerun – in 454 at-bats).

Worth the PRICE. David Price. The Tampa Bay Rays made him the first overall pick in the 2007 Major League Baseball draft. Last season Price was named the BEST prospect in baseball. So what are the Rays waiting for?

The buzz still looms. With continues speculation as to - When will the Rays prized minor league jewel – DAVID PRICE – get a bona fide chance to prove himself on the big league level?

Patience. That is the name of the Rays organizations philosophy. Trust in that philosophy. After years of 60-win seasons, patience prevailed. Price will get his chance. Just be patience. He is definitely worth the price.

** B.J. Upton’s bat has slowly become more and more alive over the last week of baseball. Not to say he is 100-percent healthy, but the fact that Upton has two homeruns and five steals in the last seven days, shows he is getting better following the off-season shoulder surgery.

COOLER TALK - THE STATE OF BOXING

HATTON v. PACQUIAO. This past weekend, I found myself out at a bar getting ready to watch the highly anticipated fight between Hatton vs. Pacquiao. The brawl was expected to be the fight of the year, as two of the sports finest were set to go toe-to-toe, for an epic throwdown. But that wasn't the case. Following two first round knockdowns, Pacquiao dropped Hatton in the second round with a pulverizing, two fisted beat down. Methodical and destructive is the best way to describe Pacquiao's beat down of the Hitma, who never seemed to have a chance. The fight was over so fast that I, most likely among others, was left wishing for another opponent for Pacquiao to take on. Both of these fighters are champions. And Both have battled and beaten some of the sports best. But it was Pacquiao who stood above the rest on Saturday night, becoming the new junior welterweight world champion. Furthermore the win cements his status as the worlds best pound-for-pound fighter. Pacquiao has now won championships in six weight classes (112, 120, 126, 130, 135, 140) - tied with Oscar De La Hoya for the most. For now, or until Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao meet, PacMan will remain king of the world.

STATE OF BOXING. IS THERE HELP ON THE WAY? Not sure. At this point I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel. They biggest fights always have been between the heavy fisted, heavyweight sluggers. Too many of the so-called big fights are between the lower weight classes. People have lost interest. The big characters of the past are gone, and as much as Floyd Mayweather Jr. tries to attract attention to the sport he isn't big enough. Boxing needs another Ali, Foreman, or Tyson. Another problem boxing is facing is that their are far too many weigh classes. It is too hard to follow boxing. Through the years, the amount of weight classes has inflated from three or four to a number that is closer to 20. My advice for the world of boxing... use the KISS rule - Keep It Simple Stupid! Lets just hope Mayweather in his return (in August) can win so that the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight won't be just a dream fight. Pretty Boy Floyd taking on the Pacman just sounds right, and has fight of the decade written all over it.

ASHER ROTH - ASLEEP IN THE BREAD AISLE

He is NOT Eminem. And he is NOT trying to be Eminem. That is usually the first mistake people make when they listen to Asher Roth's music (I know I almost went down that road). Besides the wacky, witty lyrics and similar sounding voices, the only other comparisons that can be made are their skin color and love of hip-hop. Eminem is Eminem. Asher Roth is Asher Roth. Two different rappers. When I first began hearing about Asher Roth, I wasn't sure what to think of Asher Roth's debut album, Asleep in the Bread Aisle. I was never completely sold on him. The "I Love College" jam was cool, but I wasn't sure. Well that was until I decided to buy the album. I shared the same thought that people probably had... that Asher Roth was a wanna-be Eminem, but man was I wrong. Asher Roth's debut is for the laid-back, chill seeking listener. The album has the feel of a frat party gone wild, with its many party anthem tracks. Asher Roth may not alter the face of hip-hop world, but he is sure to add some of his boyish, party animal, college loving, charm into the music. For Roth it all works, and he has made some room for himself in a crowded hip-hop world.

COOLER TALK - HOCKEY'S SAVIOR

ALEXANDER OVECHKIN. The NHL's face. The NHL's star. The NHL's everything. And I mean it. Ovechkin is (to me) the NHL's savior. He is the only player in NHL history to win all 4 of hockey's major individual awards in the same season. He is the figure in hockey that fans either love or hate. Sports need those polarizing athletes, like I need a job. Football has T.O. Major League Baseball has Alex Rodriguez. And the NBA has LeBron James. These are the players people love to hate (mostly because they aren't on your favorite team), but every time they are playing you tune in to see what they might do next. That is exactly what Ovechkin is for the NHL. He is that player that people love to hate, but will tune in to watch what he is capable of next.

Ovechkin is to me the savior of the NHL. We all know that the NHL and NBA regular season's are long and drawn out. We also know that the playoffs for both sports turn the regular superstars into super heros. Everyone wants to watch Kobe, LeBron, and D-Wade play in the playoffs, because they are playing on a different level. The stakes are raised and so is the level of play. That is what Ovechkin does for hockey. He brings in the rare hockey watcher. He grabs the attention of the channel surfer with his unique hockey style. He hits. He scores. He passes. He plays both ends of the ice, like the NHL won't be around tomorrow. Here is his goal from a few days ago. Yes the one where he avoids a hit, then puts it through the next defenders legs, kicks it with his skate, and then he falls down just before scoring the goal. He is an AND 1 Streetballer on ice.

COOLER TALK - CARL EDWARDS CRASH

CARL EDWARDS TAKES A RIDE. Most, if not all, have probably seen this over and over again, but it is just too crazy to not talk about (or look at for the 71st time). When Carl Edwards goes to block Brad Keselowski - on the final lap of the race - as Edwards drifts high, Keselowski looks to sneak by. But, in doing so catches Carl's back bumper sending it sailing through the air. Take a look. It is one of the craziest wrecks I have seen. So add that to the fact that the finish line was near, you get one heck of a finale.

I think Carl Edwards makes a point when during his ranted he mentioned rule changes being needed. The crash was eerily similar to Bobby Allison's 1987 crash, which sent Allison's car flying into the catch fence too. Something might need to be done, but the question becomes what? You can't slow the cars down anymore, the sport would suffer too much. The cars have been changed. The safety apparatuses in the cars are been upgrade constantly. What else does he expect? Carl has always been a very good racer, and has also been very open with his comments. I don't disagree with him, but I would like to hear what he thinks needs to happen. On the other hand, Keselowski knew what he was doing. But, rubbing is racing. Without the danger and possibility of this sort of wreck happening, NASCAR would suffer. Period. End of story. The sport needs it edge. And it needs the possibility of horrifying, fire-breathing crashes.

2. "Keep It Together (So I Can Fall Apart)" - Ben Harper and the Relentless7 - His new CD is due to come out May 5th, and this is an example of a new heavier hitting Ben Harper music style.

3. "Crazy Town" - Jason Aldean - A little bit of a rock edge to his country and that is what makes Jason Aldean a constant hit. And he does it in this song and throughout his new CD.

4. "Eyez" - Collie Buddz - Buddz continues to make hits.

5. "Chasing Sunshine" - Mims - Sounds like Mims took a page out of the Kanye West book with this one, but it works for me. Cool sound. Good vibe.

COOLER TALK - NHL Playoffs

Did you somebody say playoffs? Playoffs? Ok that is enough of that, moving on to the topic. As I sit here and watch the opening moments of the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals first round playoff game I got to thinking. I was thinking that my opinion on the NHL playoffs was necessary. Ok so maybe not, but everyone has their thoughts on what will be the outcome, and so do I. The youth movement in hockey has taken form, and will be on full display in this years NHL Playoffs.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

The Eastern Conference first round playoff match-ups look like this:

- #1 Boston vs. #8 Montreal - This series should be a bruising, smash-and-dash match-up, which features two of hockey's Original Six. What intrigues me the most about this match-up is the game within the game, as Tim Thomas and Carey Price look to show off their netminding skills.

- #2 Washington vs. #7 New York - The Caps have been a contender for most of the season, mainly due to the play by Alexander Ovechkin and Mike Green. The young stars are bright in the nation's capital.

- #3 New Jersey vs. #6 Carolina - Do I really need to say much more than Martin Brodeur? I mean really? The man is history.

- #4 Pittsburgh vs. #5 Philadelphia - The key to slowing down the Penguins is pretty simple = slow down and try your best to limit Sydney Crosby. If he gets going, so do the Penguins.

First Round winners: Boston, Washington, Carolina, and Philadelphia

Eastern Conference Playoff MVP: Alexander Ovechkin. No on is close to his level of play.

Eastern Conference Champions: Boston Bruins. They are too deep, too fast, too strong. Tim Thomas has been consistently good all year long, and I see no changes as the Bruins make their way for a chance to play for Lord Stanley's Cup.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

- #1 San Jose vs. #8 Anaheim - The popular upset pick is the Ducks over the Sharks. I am still not sold, but this is the most intriguing first round match-up this year.

- #2 Detroit vs. #7 Columbus - Detroit is a machine. Columbus has a young goaltender trying to make a name for himself. Just not sure the Blue Jackets have enough to compete.

- #3 Vancouver vs. #6 St. Louis - Sedin and Sedin are the Canucks leaders, while Luongo mans the space between the posts. The Blues will have to depend on Brad Boyes firepower to carry them through.

- #4 Chicago vs. #5 Calgary - A young Chicago team has all the potential to make a long playoff run and be the surprise of the post-season. Can Toews, Kane, and Versteeg keep the Blackhawks flying high?

First Round winners: San Jose, Detroit, Vancouver, and Chicago.

Western Conference Playoff MVP: Not really sure to pick for this category, so I am going to go off the wall with my choice and choose Jonathan Toews. The young gun for the Blackhawks has shown some signs of greatness, and this being a youth movement in this year's playoffs, why not choose one of the young stars? Ok so I am probably alone on this pick. Go figure.

Western Conference Champions: Detroit Red Wings. They are poised for a repeat. They have all the parts needed to win another championship. This is an easy choice in my mind.

STANLEY CUP FINALS - Boston vs. Detroit

Another match-up between two of the Original Six teams, and a classic match-up for the ages, which will take place in two of America's greatest hockey towns. Detroit seems like a lock pick for many as a Stanley Cup contender, but I am not sure the Red Wings are going to be back-to-back winners. The Boston Bruins are a deep, youthful squad with lots of potent scorers and capable defenders. If you haven't been able to read the signs, I am going with the Boston Bruins to win it all this year. With Tim Thomas winning the Conn Smythe trohpy.

COOLER TALK - MLB Season '09

With the start of the Major League Baseball season, summer is just around the corner. The Philadelphia Phillies are the champs. But, it is a new season. With new storylines. And maybe even a new champion. There is still a long road to go before it is all figure out, so in the meantime here are my 2009 MLB predictions.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

AL Division Winners

East - Tampa Bay Rays. They didn't change much from last seasons World Series team, but one thing they made sure to do was try and sure up the bullpen. Plus they can call up David Price when they want to.

West - LA Angels. Their division will be improved this season, and they do have to face some important injury questions. I just am not ready to give the West to Oakland or Texas - no matter how much I believe in the Rangers this season.

Central - Detroit Tigers. The Central division is the biggest toss up in baseball. My suggestion is to put each teams name in a hat, cover your eyes and pick one. That is how I came up with Detroit. Their pitching staff is solid (especially when Bonderman returns from his injury), and Miguel Cabrera will carry the line-up when needed.

Wild Card - Boston Red Sox. As much money as the Yankees spent in the off-season, I still think they will miss the playoffs. And not only will all hell break loose, but the new stadium may get burned to the ground.

Surprise squad- Texas Rangers. They have a long ball friendly park, with a line-up built for it. With the Rangers line-up, the pitching should go into the season with tons of run support. Giving the pitchers some added confidence. Oh and the Rangers have top rated pitching prospect reinforcements waiting in the minors. Won't be surprised to the Rangers giving the Angels a run for their money out West. I mean come on, crazier things have happened.

Rookie to Watch - Matt Wieters or David Price. Without a doubt two of the biggest names in all of the minor leagues, but both are starting in the minors. So I am going with Elvis Andrus, the opening day starting shortstop for the Rangers. He can hit, field, and run, so adding him to an already potent line-up, he is sure to succeed.

AL Cy Young - CC Sabathia. For once I am going to go with the obvious choice. The new BIG man in New York will have to shoulder a large load, but I see CC winning at least 20 games and the Cy Young.

AL MVP - This was a tough choice for me. So many choices. Hamilton, Teixeira, Guerrero, etc. My pick is Miguel Cabrera. The Detroit slugger has hit 30+ homeruns in 4 of his 6 big league seasons, while driving in more than 112 RBI's in 5 of 6 seasons. With a healthy Granderson sparking the top of the line-up, Cabrera should have a lot more support this season, on his way to an AL MVP award.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

NL Division Winners

East - Philadelphia Phillies. Not much has changed since last season World Series victory. They added Raul Ibanez and dropped Geoff Jenkins. All they need is for COle Hamels to recover and they will be back to World Series form.

West - LA Dodgers. Manny will be Manny. So that saying is a little over player and yet it is so true. Regardless the Dodgers are best team in the wild West. They should prevail with some ease.

Central - Chicago Cubs. The curse is still looming over the players, management, and fans, but the Cubbies are still the team with the most talent in the Central division. Especially since the Brewers lost Sabathia and Sheets is hurt.

Wild Card - New York Mets. Unlike the other New York team, their off-season moves will prove to sure up past failures. A bullpen with Putz and K-Rod is sure to close out games, and help prevent end of the season collapses.

Surprise squad- The trendy pick seems to be the Cincinnati Reds. They got a very impressive pitching staff to go along with a lockdown defense, but the line-up is without Griffey and Dunn. I am sticking with the East (no bias), and going to say it is between the Marlins and the Braves.

Rookie to Watch - I know pitchers rarely win Rookie of the Year awards, but I am willing to go out on a limb with this pick. James McDonald is the young 6-foot-5 power pitcher for the L.A. Dodgers. In a crowded field, I think he has the ability and potential to shine bright in the City of Stars.

NL Cy Young - Ricky Nolasco. The ace for a young Florida Marlins team with lots of promise. Nolasco has all the pitches necessary to be a Cy Young winner. He proves it this season.

NL MVP - David Wright. He does it all. He can hit for average. He can hit for power. He can field. He can steal bases. The list goes on and on. I know I don't have the Mets winning the East, but I think Wright's season will standout above the rest.

WORLD SERIES PICKS

The repeat performance would be cool to see, but I am only going to pick one of last seasons World Series teams. I think the Tampa Bay Rays will face the another NL East team this season in the World Series, when they face off against the New York Mets. Another great year for the young guns of the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Mets did a lot to sure up their bullpen. The line-up for the Mets is strong, and with Daniel Murphy an everyday player this season, only makes them stronger. I am picking the Rays to win it all this season, because their pitching staff and line-up will have another year of experience under their belts. And don't forget David Price along with a few other elite pitching prospects add depth to an already good pitching staff. The Rays are here to stay for the long haul.

SUMMER MUSIC BestBuyBusters

Long, warm summer days are not too far off and I can almost smell the fields of budding flowers. With the changing of the season comes the warmth and sun people have been waiting for after the cold winter season. Along with the new season comes a budding of new music. Noteworthy artists have already stamped their summer release dates, which are usually accompanied by their summer tour dates. Now I don't have all the exact dates, but at least you have the artists and albums to be on the watch for... here are the releases I am waiting for...

Jason Aldean - Wide Open - April 7 - One of the best new artists in country music. Jason Aldean's first two albums were platinum and gold, and Wide Open is sure to follow suit. Can you handle a little rock in your country?

Classified - Self-Explanatory - April 7 - You may or may not know who he is, but I am willing to bet most of you probably don't. A big name in the land of the midnight sun - Canada - Classified is a rapper and producer who has been around for a long time. I heard about him not to long ago and was an instant fan. I recommend giving his newest CD a listen (or any of his other 12 albums for that matter).

Eminem - Relapse - May 19 - This will be Eminem's fifth studio album, and his first since taking a four year hiatus from the world of music. I don't really need to put anything other than the date of release and Eminem. I am pretty sure that sells itself.

Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon: The Guardians - late summer - Now I know he recently retired and then un-retired the very next day, but Kid Cudi is fast rising star in the game. He is part of the new, fresh wave of hip-hop and I can't wait to hear what he has to offer day and night.

Wale - Attention: Deficit - summer (June) - I have to represent for the DMV. And Wale has brought his flair of hip-hop to the mainstream scene with the single "Nike Boots" and "Chillin" - but what separates him from the rest is his use of the uniquely D.C. sound of go-go. If you are looking for a something completely unlike the rest, Wale has it covered.

Lupe Fiasco - Lasers - summer - Not sure when Lupe Fiasco plans on actually releasing this album, considering this was originally set to be his last ever (lupE.N.D.), all I know is Jay-Z was 110% correct when he said Lupe was a "breath of fresh air." Glad Lupe is planning on more than just one album.

Charles Hamilton - This Perfect Life - later 2009 - Like Kid Cudi and Wale, Charles Hamilton is another one of the young guns pushing to the forefront of the hip-hop world. Also just like the other young artists, Hamilton brings his own unique flair and style which separates him from the rest.

Jay-Z - Blueprint 3 - maybe summer, or fall, or winter - Not much to say about this. Kanye West is the producer and Jay-Z is the artist. And honestly, does Jay-Z ever let down?... didn't think so.

COOLER TALK - MIDWEST REGION

With just a few hours till tip-off of the best playoff system in sports we have finally reached the Midwest region, home of the overall number one seed, the Louisville Cardinals. This is also the home to some of the tournaments hidden gems and potentially the tournaments biggest upsets. Some of the biggest pre-tournament stories are located within this Midwest region. To top all that off are the coaching names that can be found yelling and pacing the sidelines of the Midwest region. Pitino, Matta, Huggins, Izzo, and Self.

Match-up to hope for - Looking through the possible match-ups I think the best to hope for would be WVU-USC showdown. The young guns of the Mountaineers have come on as of late and the Trojans have made a surge to solidify their tourny berth. Two wins for each team and this will be possible (I have it laid out that way).

Star power you want to gaze at - There is NO other player in this region who does as much for his team and is as fun to watch as Terrence Williams for Louisville (more below), but I am going with Devin Ebanks. The Mountaineer freshman forward has become the go-to-guy for the WVU squad. He has become an offensive weapon and a defensive menace. The Mountaineers always seem to get hot in the Big East tournament and then win a few games streaking through the tourny... so look out for Ebanks to leave a big footprint on the dance floor.

Unusual S(tar)uspects - I am now realizing a little biased towards freshman in this region, but the class has been down this year - well before these young guys were able to get 30+ games under their belts. I am picking DeMar DeRozan, the Trojans freshman forward from Compton. He has finally emerged as the player everyone expected him to be at the seasons start. DeRozan has been a big part of the Trojans run to win the Pac-10 tournament - winners of 5 straight coming into the dance - DeRozan upped his game with 21 points 13 boards against UCLA in the semis and then dropped 25 points in the championship win over Arizona State in the Pac-10 finale. DeRozan has the chance to really shine in upset victories.

Team to watch that may surprise you - This is a toss up between six teams. I think there are that many teams who are capable of slipper-wearing upsets in this region. USC and WVU are teams that have length and athleticism, which to me makes them both dangerous. But also the smaller schools who are looking to see if the slipper fits are North Dakota State and Cleveland State. Lay off, I know who they are playing in the first round, but Cleveland State played the Mountaineers tough earlier in the year and beat Butler to get in the dance. And NDSU can shoot the three-pointer from all over court and since this is their first dance ever they will be bringing a little extra. But you don't have to take my word for it.

Sweet 16 picks - These may come as a surprise to you, but sometimes you have to take chances in order to win your pool (or in my case pools)... I have Louisville, WVU, USC, and Arizona.

Advice to YOU, who wants to pick the upset - All I can tell you in this region is... No guts, no glory. If you don't like that, how about "Just Do It." Do you have the cahones to take a Cleveland State or a North Dakota State. I will tell you right now that I took a chance...

Final Four pick - Louisville Cardinals. I mean come on. They full-court press teams for the entire game and never seem to get tired. Terrence Williams is one of the few guys, if not the only, who can completely change the game without scoring a basket. He is possibly the most complete player in the tournament. Here is the recipe... first you add in the shooting of Earl Clark. Then you sprinkle in the inside banging of Samardo Samuels. Make sure you combine in the defense of Jerry Smith and Andre McGee, oh and don't forget a large pinch of one of the best and deepest benches around. Louisville is a favorite to go FAR.

COOLER TALK - EAST REGION

A return of a former Cinder-fella. A big man looking to make his mark. And a group of Blue Devils ready for a grande return... and maybe even a little revenge. The East region isn't the part of the bracket where the fans will see major star powers battle. Rather the East region will be a battle of the lesser known hardwood warriors.

Match-up to hope for - This is a game which will be fueled by revenge. As we know revenge is best served cold, and for the Duke seniors they know that feeling all to well. The 2007 first round upset loss to VCU was a major stunner to the college hoops world. If both VCU and Duke can win two games, the stage will be set for a VCU-Duke Sweet 16 showdown. By the way, the player of the game for the Rams (against DUke) - Eric Maynor - is still the man at VCU. But if you don't want to wait that long. Check out the battle that will be going on in the first round between Eric Maynor and Darren Collison. Could be a battle for the ages.

Star power you want to gaze at - It isn't hard to know which teams to watch to see some of the best talent in the tournament. The easy answer is to pick one of Pitt's Big 3 of Blair, Fields and Young, but I am picking a player who is absolutely crucial to his teams performance. The star to watch in the East region goes to Scottie "Too Hottie" Reynolds. Villanova's star point guard is the engine that moves Nova forward. I know Dante Cunningham has been brilliant for the Cats this season, but it is Reynolds who holds the keys to the offense and is the player who is most likely to shoot the lights out. He is capable of having some huge games.

Unusual S(tar)uspects - Well if you haven't heard enough of him (don't call it a man crush) you are going to hear his name again. Eric Maynor has bracket buster experience, and ice water running through his veins. He is a hard-nosed ball player who makes everyone around him better. Just don't count out the Rams with Eric Maynor running the show.

Team to watch that may suprise you - The Seminoles of Florida State made a good run through the ACC tournament, ultimately falling to Duke in the championship game. They were rewarded with a 5-seed in the tourny and are matched-up against a "don't judge a book by its cover" Wisconsin squad who will offer a tough challenge. But the Seminoles have Toney Douglas running the point and sniping from all distances, to go along with two strong, shot blocking big men inside - Soloman Alabi and Uche Echefu - giving the Seminoles a real good chance to make a surprise run.

Sweet 16 picks - I am going to keep it simple. I have Pitt, Xavier, Duke, and Villanova. As much as I wanted to take VCU and maybe even Florida State this was not the place for me to throw my money away.

Advice to YOU, who wants to pick the upset - Wisconsin isn't enough of an underdog - even if they are the 12-seed - to call it a true upset. I am sticking with the Rams of VCU. Again as the underdog, but this time the upset will be against college basketballs most everything, UCLA.

Final Four pick - I don't think any other team in the East region is as physical and fun to watch as the Pitt Panthers. They are controlled street ball under floor general Levance Fields, who is a New York street baller. With big man DeJuan Blair splattering opposing big men all over the paint, and Sam Young throwing down alley-hoops it is hard to stop anything else the Panthers throw at teams - Wanamaker, Dixon, and Biggs.

COOLER TALK - SOUTH REGION

This region is much different than the West Region, because the unexpected is the expected. There are seven teams, to me, that could make that run to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, with the power add in some Cinder-fella and you have a bracket to watch... but the question becomes who do you pick? A tough question and I got the answers...

Match-up to hope for - Oklahoma v. UNC. Don't get me wrong I don't see this match-up happening, but the chance of Tyler Hansbrough and Blake Griffin facing off in the Elite 8 would be a match-up (maybe not game) to watch. The two big men have been at the top of the sport all season... and a chance to see those two dance in the paint would be a clash for the ages.

Star power you want to gaze at - It is hard to pick the big named star to watch in the region, with so many to choose from - Hansbrough, Griffin, Flynn, Matt Bouldin, Josh Heytvelt, etc... But just like my friend Daniel Dudley on his blog (ddisbored.wordpress.com) I have to give it to JAMES HARDEN, the Arizona State guard. The guy is a baller. He has never played his age... and is the best player on the court every time his team plays. He was a NBA prospect last year as a freshman, and has only strengthened his resume.

Unusual S(tar)uspect - Dionte Christmas has the potential to be this year's version of last season's Stephen Curry. What Curry did in last season's tourny was nothing short of unbelievable, but without him in the big dance you will be searching for a replacement... Christmas is the player. I still remember the headline from the second week of December that read- Christmas Comes Early! - Dionte Christmas had 35 points in the upset win, over then ranked #8 Tennessee.

Team to watch that might surprise you - I like defense. And if you can put full court pressure on the other team, you will cause turnovers, and win games. That is what the Clemson Tigers do and they do it well. They have a sniper in Terrence Oglesby, but more importantly their big man Trevor Booker is an underrated and unknown gym gem. He is an undersized big man (this years big man trend - Hansbrough, Blair, Griffin, and Harangody), but he has tons of athleticism and low post ability. Booker versus Griffin will be another match-up to watch.

Sweet 16 picks - This may come as a suprise to many of you reading this, but this is what I got for my South region Sweet 16 picks... UNC, Gonzaga, Arizona State, Clemson. You may be asking yourself where Syracuse and Oklahoma are? Oklahoma isn't deep enough for me, and the back court isn't strong enough to handle the Clemson pressure. Syracuse is legitimately a dangerous team with Jonny Flynn, Andy Rautins, and Paul Harris, but I just don't see it happening again. Flynn is a point guard who leaves his heart on the floor, I just don't know if they have any magic left.

Advice to YOU, who wants to pick the upset - Illinois without their star guard Chester Frazier is an easy target for a tournament experienced Western Kentucky. This is the 5-12 match-up that favors the 12-seed, go with the Hilltoppers. If you are feeling like taking a risk, go with Dionte Christmas and the Owls of Temple. It isn't as big of a risk as you may think...

Final Four pick - I know people are in love with the Gonzaga Bulldogs this season, but there also seems to be an equal number of skeptics. They have heard this story before - Gonzaga always seems to be the team to watch. Head Coach Mark Few has been to the tourny the last seven seasons, but has made just one Sweet 16 appearance. You know where this is all leading, and this is where I reveal that I have Gonzaga as my Final Four representative from the South region. With an experienced Gonzaga team, led by Josh Heytvelt, Matt Bouldin, Jeremy Pargo, and Austin Daye, they have the size, defense, scoring, and talent to finally breakthrough and shine.

COOLER TALK - WEST REGION

The top heavy West Region is NOT the part of the bracket that you want to get crazy with upset picks. It may seem like a good choice to have one or two upsets in each region, but this West isn't wild. Here is what I got for the West Region games...

Match-up everyone is looking towards - Missouri v. Memphis. Both teams should make it to the Sweet 16 and when they do this game could be the clash of the tourny. High-flying offensive squad versus a stingy, shutdown defensive team. Can't miss Tiger Showdown.

Star power you want to gaze - A.J. Price has certainly stepped up in for the UCONN Huskies since Dyson went down with the season ending injury. His performance towards the seasons end and in the Big East tourny were impressive. And if UConn is to go far Price will be a major reason why.

Unusual S(tar)uspect - The freshman star leading the Washington Huskies, Isaiah Thomas, is lighting in a bottle. A 5-8 scoring machine can shoot from any spot on the floor and will go inside to mix it up with the big fellas. I know Tyreke Evans is the more well-known freshman baller in this bracket, but I promise Thomas won't disappoint.

Sweet 16 picks - Like I said this bracket is heavy on top and full of Huskies and Tigers... I am going with UConn, Missouri, Memphis, and Washington...

Advice to You who wants to pick the upset - Utah State is a very good team with a very good big man, Gary Wilkinson (a double-double machine), but there half court, slowed-down style of offense won't be very affective against a fast and strong Marquette team (even without Dominic James). And just because Mississippi State got hot and won the SEC title doesn't mean you should pick them. Watching the end of the SEC title game, showed that they didn't even want to win, but Tennessee was unable to take it. Don't take the bait.

Final Four pick - I have to go with the team that can score and play defense better than any other in the region. The West region will go to Memphis, as they make their second Final 4 appearance in two years.

COOLER TALK - Week Review

Hitting Coach on Roids? Mark McGwire has moved on with his life since the Congressional hearings investigating steroids in baseball. McGwire has become a hitting instructor. He isn't doing this for a high school or college team, McGwire is helping some big name MLB players, such as Matt Holliday (OAK), Skip Schumaker (STL), and Chris Duncan (STL). It just seems a little early. It wasn't that long ago that Mr. McGwire was pouring his heart out at the congressional hearings. Plus what is he going to teach?... how to play with steroids? The best way to inject your friend in the cheek?, etc... I am not going to sit here and write an approval of McGwire's steroid use during his career, but the guy could mash the ball. I just find it interesting that these major leaguer's would turn to him for hitting advice. It still seems a little to soon.

BS of the Week. Can you really make a strong argument for Hasheem Thabeet being the co-Big East Player of the Year? Please be honest. Don't get me wrong, Thabeet is a whole truckload better than he was last season. He is a better shot-blocker, a better scorer, and a better rebounder; but just because he has improved his game doesn't mean he is now the (co-) Big East player of the year. It means, to me, he is the league's MOST IMPROVED. Plus look at who he shares the award with - DeJuan Blair. The Pitt big man who man handled Thabeet in both games between the two games this season (also both Pitt victories). To be honest, DeJuan Blair doesn't need to share the award with anyone. He was the best player in the league this season, averaging 15.6 points and 12.2 points a game.

But if there is a case that should be made for co-Big East player of the year, what about Louisville star forward Terrence Williams? Even Pittsburgh forward Sam Young deserves a look. But I think, if you were to have co-Big East players of the year, Terrence Williams is the more deserving player. He is an athelete who can alter the game without scoring a basket. He does everything on the floor, and more. Over the course of the season, Williams averaged 12.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.5 steals a game. Last night's Big East championship was a prime example of how much Williams can do to change a game. For me, Thabeet being named co-Big East player of the year, alongside DeJuan Blair, is deserved of the BS of the Week award.

Dancing to the Tourny. Championship week(end) didn't disappoint. But then again does it ever. It is hard to disappoint a die hard college basketball fan, especially with sweet scent of March Madness in the air. The Big East Conference tournament spotlight was again centered on the drive and desire of the Syracuse Orange - 7 OT's in two days. But it was the regular season champs the - Louisville Cardinals - who ultimately took the tournament crown. The ACC was a bracket of upsets as Florida State beat UNC, and Maryland handed it to Wake Forest. Then there was the Pac-10 which was turned upside down when the USC Trojans came from behind to beat the heavily favored Arizona State Sun Devils. And who would I be to skip the mid-majors games, which turned in some of the best post season conference tournament finishes. Is it Thursday already? Find something that will make you laugh. My Dad sent me this email the other day and I thought it was worth sharing. It was shot in a Liverpool Street Station, with 400 dancers and 10 hidden cameras - and only the dancers and station staff knew what was going on. One of the better advertisements (that doesn't involve the etrade baby) I have seen. It is worth the two minutes I promise - just at least watch it until you see the old lady getting down - hilarious!

It's official. Slim Shady has announced the date chosen for the release of his next solo album - Relapse. Following a four year break from the music world, Eminem has announced that the Relapse will be on sale in stores May 19th. Eminem also revealed that the first single from the upcoming album is set to be released April 7th - I am interested to see what he and Dr. Dre have cooked up. And to complete the news coming from the Slim Shady camp, he said that him and Dre were on such a role in the studio (six months of working), that he will be releasing the Relapse 2, at the very end of 2009.

K'NAAN - TROUBADOUR

The best way, for me, to describe what K'naan brings to the table, in Troubadour (his first album) is a little bit of everything. He brings roots reggae ideals, and mixes them with hip-hop sounds. He brings world music and ties it together with a melody of horns. It is hard to truly understand where K'naan is coming from. Born in an area of Somalia known as "the Lake of Blood" - K'naan made it out and has chosen music has his platform to share his stories. That is what makes this album so very enjoyable. It isn't the same old hip-hop album. It has soul. It has heart. It uses folk and hip-hop and rock. The lyrics carry with them meaning. And in the meaning are stories that the hip-hop world rarely hears. Troubadour takes aim at the world, as K'naan tries to open peoples eyes. In the Somalian language, K'naan means "traveller", which seems so appropriate. Because as you listen to his music in each of his songs, K'naan looks to take his listeners on a journey through his stories. With guest appearances from Damian Marley, Mos Def, Adam Levine (Maroon 5), and ChubbRock, the album is sure to surprise you. Not a perfect album, but a banger of a first.

- THE SOLOIST (April 24) - Jamie Foxx is in another role revolving around a musician with a tough challenge in his life to overcome. I am sold. Ray was great, I have no doubt Foxx does it again in this flick.

- X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE (May 1) - The X-Men movies have all been pretty solid. It is hard to say this one won't follow in suit. Plus Hugh Jackman is still Wolverine.

- ANGELS & DEMONS (May 15) - The Da Vinci Code was a movie that challenged the mind of the believers and the standards. For those who aren't open-minded about their religion skip this. But you will be missing out.

- TERMINATOR SALVATION (May 22) - It's part of the Terminator series. And Christian Bale is the grown up John Conner, set to lead humankind against the machines.

- TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN (June 24) - The first one was an awesome flick. There is no reason this one won't be good. And forget about Shia LeBeouf... Michelle Fox is back for the second one - HOT! *It will be this Summer's Blockbuster to see. And you can count me in now.

- G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF THE COBRA (August 7) - This movie is for those guys who grew up playing with G.I. Joe's. I know that I had a few. An action-packed movie, G.I. Joe will surely take you back to a simpler time in your life, when playing with boy dolls was cool. And for the ladies, Channing Tatum is it the movie.

- INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (August 21) - A new spin on another WWII story. This time the cast is led by Brad Pitt, as a group of Jewish-American soldiers attack Nazi troops in the worst ways. Looks like it has some potential.

2. "The Sky Might Fall" - Kid Cudi - As Kid Cudi continues to do his thing. He also brings a new style and sound different from the rest. This track carries a similar sound to what we heard on 808's & Heartbreak but with Kid Cudi's spacey, man on the moon twist.

4. "It's America" - Rodney Atkins - With spring quickly approaching, country music will be picking up. And this is just the start. Real good song.

COOLER TALK - Just What Hockey Needed (I mean it)

Jennifer vs. Angelina. Shaq vs. Kobe. Brady vs. Manning. Every one has a rival, regardless of your job. It's that one person that really gets under your skin. The rivalry usually gets going, because both of you are constantly being compared. You are both great. But more importantly, to the best you have to face the best. Ultimately building the foundation of the rivalry.

It has finally become real. For the casual fan of the National Hockey League, a buzz has been created around the sport. A league desperately in need of some attention. For hockey, the best possible scenario happened, on February 22nd, in a game, which the Capitals beat the Penguins 5-2, Ovechkin and Crosby finally showed their dislike for one another.

With the game well in hand for the Caps, the Ovechkin-Crosby boiling point was finally reached. The rivalry is ON! Ovechkin cut off Crosby on his way to the bench, Crosby grabbed him, and the Ovechkin grabbed Crosby. It wasn't much, but the public feud has begun.

It was something that both players seemed to ignore for so long. Maybe not ignore, but not mention. Neither side opened up about the dislike for the other. But after the game, it was clear. Ovechkin and Crosby don't like each other. It is great for the sport. A rivalry, which rivals those of other sports. The only two true household names don't like each other. You know NHL Officials can't stop smiling about the rivalry. Ovechkin and Crosby have always been rivals, but that was based on the fact that they are both rising superstars. Now with the public trash-talking, this has escalated to become a full on bitter, angry rivalry. I can't wait to see what happens next.

The day every golf fan has been waiting for has finally arrived. TIGER WOODS will be returning to the fairways next week in Arizona. Last June, following his third U.S. Open victory - his 14th major - Tiger was forced to undergo reconstructive ACL surgery. The road back from recovery has been long, and many wondered when he would make his return. His return was made official earlier today, when he posted the announcement on his website, tigerwoods.com.

Tiger's debut will come next Wednesday at the WCG-Accenture Match Play Championship, at the Gallery Golf Club at Dove Mountain.

Tiger's return could quite possibly be one of the most anticipated returns of a major sports star. I can't remember when the return [from an injury] of a major athlete meant more to a sport. I know others shined this past season while Tiger was in the clubhouse recovering. But come on. Its Tiger Woods. He is golf's face. And with just over 7 weeks until the season's first major. It is the perfect time for Tiger's return to golf. If he feels comfortable walking, swinging, and putting. You know the rest of the PGA Tour are feeling uncomfortable knowing he is back. I came across this while searching for a new pair of shoes. And to be honest I was shocked. I mean for someone to have taken the time to: 1. take the picture, 2. take the time to create the posting, and 3. come up with the idea... wow. Just blows my mind. This was found under the shoes pictures, in the customer feedback section.

This is by far one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. It did provide me with a much needed good laugh... especially when I realized the price - $700 plus - and then the amount of bids this has actually received. I mean come on, really? THE BIG SHAQ-TUS

The 2009 NBA All-Star game went on last night from the Valley of the Sun, in Phoenix. The big story lines heading into the weekend, centered around what Dwight Howard might do to repeat as Dunk Contest Champion and the reunion of Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal and Phil Jackson (together again on the West's roster).

Howard was unable to repeat as champion, as he came up short getting out bounced by the 5'8" Nate "Kryptonite" Robinson. And before we would get to see Shaq and Kobe back together on the court. The BIG SHAQ-TUS stole the show, before the game even got going. I didn't see this until a buddy of mine called and told me to "youtube" Shaq's All-Star introduction. I am sure glad I did. You know the big man needs no introduction, but he sure does love to make an entrance - as if his seven-foot frame walking into a building wasn't enough. O'Neal dances his way on to the floor with the help of the now infamous JABBAWOCKEEZ... Just check it out. For a big man, Shaq shows off his dance moves as he keeps up with masked men.

KENSETH WINS NASCAR's SUPER BOWL.

The Florida rains shortened Sunday's Daytona 500. However, the opening of the skies didn't stop Matt Kenseth and the number-17 Dewalt team from celebrating one of the biggest wins of his career.

For the Wisconsin native, the realization of winning the Daytona 500 was too much to handle as his dream came true. After starting the race at the back of the field - he was one of seven cars forced to use back-up cars after wrecking earlier in the week - Kenseth was just one of a few top-5 unlikely finishers.

For Matt Kenseth and his team, the rain gods rewarded the 17-car with a gracious gift. For the former champion, the win at Daytona was the perfect start to a 2009 Sprint Cup season. Following last season, Kenseth and his team are trying to rebound from one of the worst seasons in his series career. The win for Kenseth snapped a 36-race winless streak that dated back to the end of the 2007 season.

Maybe next year NASCAR will institute headlights, rain tires, and windshield wipers for the 2010 Daytona 500 - so the race cane be finished. Considering they - NASCAR - immediately changed the rules after Kenseth's lackluster 2003 Championship campaign. Regardless, Matt Kenseth made a move when it was necessary, and was rewarded by the skies as heavy rains drenched the track, giving the victory to the number-17 Dewalt Ford Fusion.

UNLIKELY SUSPECTS.

The number-17 car wasn't the only shocker of the 2009 Daytona 500, as other unlikely drivers found their way into the top-5. The four other cars within the top five were composed of just two racing teams, two from Richard Childress Racing and two from Richard Petty Motorsports. Kevin Harvick (RCR), was last seasons Daytona 500 winner. He started in the race in the 38-hole and managed to finish second. For A.J. Allmendinger (RPM), the young star made his mark on the 2009 season, by showing just how good he is behind the wheel with a third place finish. Rounding out the unlikely top-5 finishers is Clint Bowyer (RCR) who finished fourth and in fifth was Elliott Sadler (RPM).

JUNIOR'S TANTRUM.

Dale Jr. struggled all week to park his race car in its pit stall. The inability to park his race care were the least of his worries on Sunday, as Junior battled an average race car. His frustrations finally erupted on the track as Junior - one lap down following a pit road penalty - dipped down to the double yellow lines in an attempt to pass Brian Vickers. Vickers went to block, and Junior clipped his rear sending him sideways at the front of the pack. In the carnage that ensued, was race leader Kyle Busch, who to that point had the most dominant car for 124 laps. Among the other strong competitors wrecked in the crash were Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, and Carl Edwards. However, following all the drama created by Junior's stupid driving, NO penalty was issued. Because Dale Earnhardt Jr. is NASCAR's most popular driver in the sport they yet again let it slide. It seems to happen all the time that NASCAR's biggest stars get off easy. If it were Tony Stewart or Kyle Busch behind the crash you know a penalty or fine would have been issued. Junior committed a flagrant foul and should have been punished. He was frustrated that his car was slow and that he couldn't park his car. So he wrecks everyone else and is aloud to finish the race. What NASCAR seems to be is telling everyone is: become a star on and off the track, and we will let you get away with anything you want.

COOLER TALK - Alex Rodriguez Sound-off

Steroids and baseball. The first word in the previous sentence haunts the other. This was a period in Major League Baseball's history when the long ball ruled the sport, and the players were fueled by performance enhancing drugs (PED's). It involved every person of the game, from the league's biggest and brightest stars, all the way up to the League Commissioner. Which has left everyone involved asking for there mulligan.

Alex Rodriguez, a three-time American League MVP, is guilty. Rodriguez admitted it to Peter Gammons in an exclusive interview. He admitted to taking steroids, from 2001-03, while playing for the Texas Rangers. Rodriguez is the Major League Baseball's first superstar - he is the youngest player in MLB history to reach 500 home runs - to own up to his use of steroids. He stated that he was "young and naive" at the time when he used the performance enhancing drugs. Everyone makes mistakes, especially when we are young. This, however, was a mistake that was made on a larger than life scale.

Now, I am not trying to give Alex Rodriguez a pass, or say he is forgiven. But he did own up to his mistake. Something nobody else has done. He admitted to what he did, he TOLD THE TRUTH, and he apologized for what he did. This doesn't make up for the years of cheating and steroid use, but I believe it makes him look better than the rest of players who have resorted to hiding and lying. He has not pointed the finger at anyone else. He has just shined the spotlight on a mistake he made while playing for the Texas Rangers organization.

Most of the people reading this are well aware of the dilemma Barry Bonds is facing - perjury charges about his use of steroids. I believe many have witnessed the replays of Mark McGwire and Raphael Palmeiro's testimony about their use of steroids as they shed their tears. And I am willing to bet that you have heard a little about Roger Clemens and his supposed steroid use - which involves steroid syringes in a beer can. Rodriguez has done none of this. The results of a past drug test were revealed - he had failed the test - and so he decided to tell the truth. I commend Alex Rodriguez for telling the truth, when so many others have decided to hide and lie. He is still a cheater, but at least he didn't run and hide like the rest.

It was a time in baseball when people turned a blind eye to what was going on. That or they simply ignored the epidemic-like problem. Regardless, it is great for the sport that the public is finding out some truth. By getting this out in the open, for all to see and know, it helps the healing process.

This isn't baseball's first dark time. They have made it through the Black Sox Scandal of 1919, in which players intentionally lost games. And then MLB had to make it through Pete Rose's betting on baseball games and gave him a lifetime ban. This isn't just another scandal that MLB must be dealt with. MLB has more players involved with one incident then ever before. MLB must uncover the truth and then make sure, to the best of their ability, that this doesn't happen again. The uncovering of all those involved with steroids in baseball will lead to a tough time for the sport. But, I hope as a fan people will continue to support the Major League Baseball, despite the dark cloud cast by the steroids era.

Plain and simple, Pat Summitt is among the greatest names in sports and rightfully so. She ranks up there with all of the greatest names in coaching history. Red Auerbach, great NBA coach with the Boston Celtics, finished his career with 938 wins - the most in NBA history. John Gagliardi has the most ever wins in college football, regardless of division, with 461 career wins. Augie Garrido, the long time Texas Longhorns baseball coach, has amassed 1,629 wins in his long and still active career. And then there is the infamous Bob Knight, who finished his Men's college basketball coaching career with 890 wins. For Pat Summitt, her name won't just be a permanent fixture on the Tennessee basketball court. Her name will be permanently fixed among best all-time. Congratulations Coach Summitt.

I am sure he already has the Washington Wizards organization drooling over the prospect of signing him in 8 years or so. 2. "Pleasant Overthinking" - Charles Hamilton - He's just got a cool sound and vibe. Hard not to like what Hamilton is doing. Great for hip-hop.

SUPER BOWL 43. First of all. Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers for winning Super Bowl XLIII. The Steelers were able to win the Super Bowl for the second time in four years, and for the Steel City it was their sixth Super Bowl victory - which is the most Super Bowls, NOT the most NFL Championships.

What blew me away about all of the Super Bowl aftermath - post game celebration and interviews - was the notion (by many) that Super Bowl XLIII was one of the greatest ever?!?! Really?!? That is ridiculous. Up until the fourth quarter I was borderline bored. I was looking forward to every commercial break, hoping they would bring me back from my Super Bowl food comma. But just like the game, the commercials lacked excitement. Through the first three quarters the Steelers dominated -- Larry Fitzgerald had maybe two catches. Mike Gandy couldn't do anything but HOLD on for dear life. James Harrison altered the game with his 100-yard interception. And Ben Roethlisberger was up to his usual antics, bull dancing in the backfield avoiding Cardinal defenders.

Not to try and take anything away from the Steelers Super Bowl victory, but the game's officiating was far less than average. The Steelers had a few questionable calls go their way (roughing the QB call - the NFL should just put a red jersey on all its quarterbacks), but the yellow hankies didn't determine the game. I tell you what, every time I watched a Steelers game this year, they won it the same way. Winning on their final drive of each game. Once they scored to take the lead, their NFL best defense sealed the deal. Further proving that DEFENSE DOES WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

BEST SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL. To me there were not too many to choose from, but *Etrade was the best.

BS of the week. Yes indeed, Michael "the Dolphin" Phelps is the centerpiece of the BS of the week. And if you haven't already heard well you will know why now. Phelps, while partying at the University of South Carolina, was photographed in the act of smoking some Mary Jane - marijuana, God's grass, the herb, etc. While Phelps is still living in the spotlight after his record setting Olympic performance of 8 Gold medals, he may now actually face some criminal charges. Like I read on - ddisbored.wordpress.com - we now know why he eats so many calories each day. Wheaties, the breakfast of champions, right? Good thing Michael Phelps smoked first, because now he can down an extra bowl or four before his morning workouts.

COOLER TALK - X-Games BIG Tricks

Crazy. Insane. Gravity, defying tricks make the X-GAMES exciting to watch. But for X-Games 13 the limits were pushed and the anti was upped, ultimately driving the athletes to be the best. When Simon Dumont and Jon Olsson went at it in the SKI Big Air Final, the biggest and best of their trick arsenal was pulled out in quest for gold.

Possibly the wildest part of the entire X-Games 13, came during the SNOWMOBILE Next Trick, when Levi Lavallee attempted a *Double-backflip*. A trick that most thought to be impossible and life-threatening. Lavallee seemed not to care as he pushed the limit, and went for it all as he attempted possibly the biggest trick ever.

For the final event of the X-Games, Men's Snowboard SUPERPIPE, it again came down to Shaun "The Flying Tomato" White. Kevin Pearce who was holding down the Gold medal spot with a killer run, when Shaun White took the pipe on for his final run of the night. White struggled through his first two runs, but turned it around to take a controversial gold. Pearce's run to many was bigger and better - and not to take anything away from White - but the difference may have been in the name. Regardless, Shaun White closed out X-Games 13 with a little history, becoming the first snowboarder to ever win back-to-back GOLD medals. Congrats goes out to the only tomato i have ever seen fly.

COOLER TALK - College Basketball Sound-Off

The college basketball season has again been wild, with teams in the TOP 25 rankings changing almost as much as the Duke scoreboard did in their blowout win over Maryland. So far the first few months of the Men's college hoops season, there has only been three number one teams - North Carolina, Pitt, and Wake Forest. The Tar Heels had dominated the first seven weeks of the season, until losing two-straight. For both Pitt and Wake Forest, there time atop the rankings didn't last long as both stumbled at the number one spot. All of this has opened the door for possibly the most dominant team in the land over the last several games - the Duke Blue Devils.

Who is number one in the college basketball land? Well as much as it may pain me to say this and I know what some of you will be thinking... "DUKE?!? Really?!? I can't believe you said that!" Well to be honest, I can't believe I am going to say it either. At the beginning of the season my original thoughts of Duke were wrong. I was NOT at all a believer in the talent and players they had on the team. I actually thought this may be just a mediocre season for Coach K's Blue Devils. However, I am a man and as a man I can admit when I am wrong. In this case, I was extremely wrong. Duke is deservedly the BEST team in the land (right now) and proved that in the game yesterday against the undermanned Terps, winning by 41 points.

Are you tired of the best conference debate? I feel like the only debate that ever talked about now is the debate about... "Which conference is the toughest conference in basketball?" Who cares? Let it go. I am so sick and tired of this. Every time it is brought up, all I want to do is change the channel. Find something more relevant to the games, the players and the teams to debate over. The answer to the questions changes with the weeks of the basketball season, while the debate never changes.

BS of the week. I decided the blog need something with a little more excitement. Something that would bring a little more edge. A new part of Blog Like a Champion will be known as the BS of the week. Highlighting those who are notably stupid or who are lacking in good judgement. And I have found the best example to kick off this new segment.

Saturday evening in Tucson, the Houston Cougars took on the Arizona Wildcats from the McKale Center - the game itself was a high scoring, overtime thriller. But in the second half of the game, Houston's Aubrey Coleman purposefully stepped on the face of Arizona star Chase Budinger. Coleman was charged with a flagrant foul and was then ejected. The Cougars until that point had been in complete control of the game. But for some reason Coleman decided to stomp on Budinger's face. Coleman's brain fart motivated the Wildcats as they were able to come back to win 96-90 in OT. Watch, the BS of the week, for yourself.

Streaking stopped. The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame went in to their home game last night against the third ranked team in the country, the UCONN Huskies, with a 45-game home win streak on the line. The first half was a back and forth shoot out as both teams came out red hot from the outside. However, the second half was mostly UCONN has they took care of business, ending the Irish's home win streak. A streak which lasted almost three seasons.

COOLER TALK - NHL All-Star Game Sound-off

I know many of you out there are NOT fans of hockey. And because of that, many of you may not know that this is the NHL's ALL-STAR WEEKEND. Now I admit that I am not a huge hockey fan, but it is the sports All-Star event. If you were to pick one time to watch the sport (other than the outdoor game on New Year's day), today would be the day. This collection of players is the very best the NHL has to offer. So what could be better than the best of the best of the best battling on the ice in Montreal? **I know the answer - which is any football game - but I am trying to help the NHL right now.

For the NHL, they picked the best weekend to hold their All-Star events, because there is NO football and the NBA All-Star weekend is not for a few more weeks. One problem for the NHL is the fact that the weekends events and games are all taking place on the Versus network. For a league that desperately needs exposure and publicity, they didn't choose a station available to everyone. There is nothing wrong with the Versus network, but not everyone gets the channel (that is the problem).

So here is my sales pitch to help the NHL get some attention and viewers... If you are looking for something else to watch besides the typical weekend movie, or if you are in between X-Games competitions. Flip over to Versus (if you have it) and check out the NHL All-Star game. The game is full of young stars, just ready to take the main stage. Good luck NHL, I did my best.

This day has finally come. This day, which comes just one day after the remembrance of the late great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his dreams, will mark the country's first ever African-American President. On this day of inauguration, a new day and a new chapter has now been written in the storied history of America. This day has been circled on the calendars of so many Americans for months, ever since President Obama spoke on that cold election night in Grant Park, in Chicago. This is a new era in America. An era filled with a renewed sense of hope for what is to come. Change will occur. I just hope people can remember that patience will help everyone persevere through these tough times. #2 Florida Gators vs. #1 Oklahoma Sooners. Last season's Heisman trophy winner - Tim Tebow vs. this season's Heisman Trophy winner - Sam Bradford. Urban Meyer vs. Bob Stoops. The match-up has been set for weeks, and finally the two teams will take the field tonight in South Florida for the BCS National Championship game. With the other 31 bowl games over and done with, all eyes are completely focused on South Florida.

One thing leading up to the FedEx BCS National Championship game that you don't want to do if you are Oklahoma is give Tim Tebow extra bulletin board material. The guy is motivated enough to be the best of the best. Remember the press conference after the Gators lost? Tebow vowed to never let it happen again. So far so good for him and the Gators. So when you add to the board you are only digging yourself a deeper hole. I guess for Dominique Franks, an OU defensive back, that doesn't matter. Franks has further fueled that fire, this week, by ranking Tebow below three other Big 12 QB's. Feeding Tebow with extra motivation is a horrible idea, which is like trying to wrestle a sandwich away from Shaquille O'Neal at lunch time. Good luck Franks, I have just one piece of advice for you when you are on the field. When you see Mr. Tim Tebow heading in your direction, dodge him at all costs like Vince Vaughn in Dodgeball, because if you don't he will run over and threw you - NOT around.

A big part of the game to watch tonight will be whether or not the Sooners can get that 600-pound gorilla off their back? This giant gorilla has prevented Oklahoma from from winning the big game the past couple of years. Oklahoma last won the National Championship in 2000, and since then the Sooners have struggled to win marquee game. They lost back-to-back championship games in 2003-04 and 2004-05, losing to LSU in 2004 and USC in 2005. And then there was the game nobody thought they would lose, but everyone saw. The 2007 Fiesta Bowl against Boise State, which became an instant classic, witnesses saw the Broncos trick play their way to a program building win over the Sooners.

Prediction: For Oklahoma this game is much more than just a National Championship game. This is a game that they must win to prove to themselves that they are still the best. More importantly they must win, to erase the ugly memory of losing to Boise State just a few seasons ago. With that said, I am not sure the Sooners have enough on defense to stop the Tim Tebow-led Florida Gator offense. Heisman trophy winner Sam Bradford will lead Oklahoma's offense and put up a ton of points, but the question is: can they stop the Gators? Even without Percy Harvin, the Gators have Superman-Tim Tebow to do it all for them on offense. For me, the difference in this game with be special teams - I know cliche, but the truth. Oklahoma has allowed four kick-off returns for touchdowns this season and Urban Meyer is a special team specialist. Florida special teams has shined this season, and when it counts the most, it will shine the brightest. Given all the extra practice time, they will get a big return or a big blocked kick, and that will be the difference in the game. Florida Gators 38 - Oklahoma Sooners 31.

Notre Dame has 11 National Championships - the last one coming in 1988 under Lou Holtz. Notre Dame also has 7 Heisman trophy winners - the last coming in 1987, won by Tim Brown. All the tradition in the world. None of this means anything now. The Fightin' Irish have gone 14 years without a bowl victory - 1994 Cotton Bowl. Notre Dame looks to avoid two losing seasons in a row, by winning in the Hawaii Bowl against Hawaii. With all that said, I was thinking about this: How many Catholics across the country (and maybe even the world) have planned their Christmas Eve dinner and church attendance around the Notre Dame game? I mean honestly, no matter how bad they are people are always going to watch. Since it has been 9 bowls lost in a row people just keep watching to see if they will break the streak. While others continue to watch, to see if the streak will keep going. Good luck to Charlie Weis and the Irish, because they all have the weight of the Irish World on their shoulders.

2. "If I" - Justin Timberlake ft. T.I. - I am not a huge JT fan, this is a real cool track. Plus anytime you add T.I. to the song it will always be better.

3. "The Future" - Joe Budden ft. The Game - Not the usual track from Joe B., but this club sounding hit is real cool.

4. "The Movement" - The Tones - This duo from the Bay area brings a fresh sound to music. They have something to say and do it over cool sounds.

5. "I Wanna Be" - Musiq Soulchild ft. Damian Marley - Musiq is cool on this laid back R&B track. And by adding the likes of Damian Marley to it, just makes the track that much cooler.

6. "Be That Way Sometimes" - Lloyd Banks - Banks decided to come back to the game. His first CD was real, real good. And then he just fell in line behind 50. I am glad he is back to his original sound.

7. "Day and Night" - Collie Buddz - Not my favorite jam from reggae artist Collie Buddz, but his jams are always real cool and easy to rock with. Buddz again delivers with a new sound.

WEEK 16 FANTASY FOOTBALL

Ace***** -- Drew Brees. I mean really. The Saints are matched up against the Detroit Lions this weekend. Need I say more? Do I really have to explain this choice? I think the case for Brees (and really the whole Saints offense) is self explanatory. The Lions are bad. Real bad. Built to go 0-16. Also the flu bug has infected half of the locker room. So look for Brees to have a BIG day in the Superdome against Lions.

Ace*** -- Steve Breaston. Stevie B. The 3rd wide receiver for an Arizona Cardinals offense which is one of the best in the league. I know what your thinking... Cardinals in the freezing, snowy cold of New England, are you serious? Yes I am very serious. The Patriots corners have not been as good this season and the NEED to double cover both Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, leaves Breaston one-on-one for most of the game. Look for a very productive game from Breaston at Gillette Stadium.

Ace*** -- This situation is very similar to the Saints offense against Detroit, because the red-hot Houston Texans head to Oakland to take on the not very good Raiders. You can pick a few players from this Texans offense to have huge games this week. One is ANDRE JOHNSON... I mean it may not be a repeat of last weeks performance - 11 catches 207 yards TD - but he will again be the main target of Matt Schaub. If Johnson has another big game, so will Schaub. Steve Slaton doesn't need much of an introductory anymore. He has exploded onto the NFL's scene this season as a rookie. As great as Chris Johnson has been for the Titans, Slaton has equaled his play for the Texans. Look for Slaton to have a huge game as well.

Joker -- I know this game is now over. But I couldn't resist putting the Dallas Cowboys defense as my Joker of the week. Last night they were in control of their own playoff destiny. And on two plays (when they were down by two points in both situations) with less than five minutes left in the game, they allowed two touchdown runs of 77 yards and 82 yards. As I cheered on the Ravens performance, I sat and thought the best gift I could give you for the holidays, would be the Cowboys defense as my JOKER this week. Enjoy.

COMMON - UNIVERSAL MIND CONTROL

Wild. Crazy. Cool. Three words that best describe Common's latest album release. This is Common's eighth studio album, and is his third in four years (Finding Forever - 2007 and Be - 2005). To some this is a new style and sound for Common, in comparison with his other albums. It is very true, but in a good way. Universal Mind Control is a unique blend of sounds that pulls in sounds from across the music spectrum. The wild style and sound can be attributed to the production help Common received from The Neptunes and Kanye West. The wacky hip-hop vibe of UMC is partly the Neptunes flavor mixed with Mr. West's new 808's sound. Add all of that up with Common's ability to rap and you have another great album from the Chicago-native Common. If I had to pick one thing to complain about,it would be the length of the record. It only has ten songs. Yea I know Common has been busy with his acting career, but I would like to see a few more songs. They are all real good tracks, but I would just like to have a little more. Other than that, this album is a must have, and Common once again delivers.

Stephen Curry vs. A.J. Abrams

The college basketball season is now a little over a month old. And after watching much of the early season tournaments and various early match-ups, I have seen plenty of Stephen Curry and A.J. Abrams. Then thought about which of these two is the best shooter in college hoops? Of course the immediate and obvious answer is Stephen Curry, who is quickly becoming a cult-like figure in the college hoops world.

So far, in this young season, Curry is averaging 31.9 points-a-game while shooting just over 38-percent from beyond the arc. Flat out, the boy from Davidson can shoot. He takes shots that would drive other coaches across the country absolutely crazy. But the fact remains he makes them. More importantly he hits the shots when the game is on the line. And Curry has scored 40-points or more in games three times this season.

A.J. Abrams, the Longhorn star, plays both shooting guard and point guard for Texas. Don't be fooled by him splitting time between the two positions the kid is also deadly from deep. So far this season, Abrams has led the Longhorns averaging 20.9 points a game, while shooting just under 48-percent from three-point land. He manages to get open anywhere on the floor and can square-up better than most shooters.

This decision is tough, because I love to watch both players. They both shoot the lights out of any building. The two of them are also called on to do more than just shoot. They both often have to play the point position to help out their teams. And I think if they were to remake the Jordan-Bird McDonald's Horse Commercial these two are a must for the remake.

With all that said, to me, Curry is the best shooter in the land. He takes shots that most people wouldn't even think of taking, and the best part is he makes those shots. First hand evidence, Curry just a few weeks ago, had a awful shooting night (9-27), missing 12 of his first 13 three-point attempts. However with five-minutes left in the game and his team struggling, Curry turned it on scoring 13 of Davidson's final 15 points to win the game. You can try to slow him down Curry, but just know at any point of that game you won't stop him no matter what shot you force him to take.

With just two weeks left in the college football season, people are again moaning and complaining about the BCS system. First of all, please forget the fact that Barack Obama wants a playoff system too... he has a few other things to worry about right now.

I know people may be a little sour after Oklahoma took Texas Tech behind the woodshed and smeared the Red Raiders, but it happened. The Sooners victory was HUGE. With the big win they leap frogged Texas and now hold onto the golden key. Your going to have to get over it. I promise there are still some games left with BCS Championship implications.

- In the SEC, Florida at Florida State and Alabama at Auburn. And then the Gators and Tide must play each other in the SEC Championship game.

- In the Big XII, Texas must play Texas A&M on Thanksgiving evening (before you hate just know A&M has beat the Longhorns that last two times they have played), and Oklahoma must play in state rival Oklahoma State.

Hate on the BCS all you want. I am pretty sick of it myself, but before the BCS system gets fixed, can they please start erasing some of the bowl games? There are 119 teams who are eligible to play in bowls and 34 bowl games. Meaning 68 teams, 54% of the 119 teams, make a bowl game. Bowl games used to mean more. You had to be a top team in the land. So start cutting down on the number of bowl games. Then let's work on figuring out how the Division II and III playoff systems can work, without losing the traditional bowls - Rose, Fiesta, Cotton, Orange, and Sugar.

KANYE WEST - 808's & Heartbreak's

There is no easy way to breakdown the newest Kanye West CD. It is not hip-hop. It is not rock. It is not pop or techno. Mr. West somehow found a way to create a middle ground, but yet was still able to distinguish himself and find a new sound. There is NO mold for this album. There is no way this can be duplicated, replicated, imitated or done better. Simply Mr. West is in a league of his own. I applaud him because I think this CD breaks ground on a whole new sound and style people were previously afraid to try. Don't get me wrong, this is not my favorite Kanye West album, but it is so different and so far out there that he deserves some love and respect for the outcome. If I had to say something bad about the album... iI just felt that there was too much of a negative tone and feeling. The CD is obviously all about heartbreak and losing his mother. I just hope someone is looking after Kanye because the man sounds depressed. Seriously depressed. Mr. West might just need a hug.

Ace**** -- Matt Forte. Come on, the Bears take on the RAMS. I don't think I have to really explain this one too much. Just know Forte is due for a big game running and receiving.

Ace** -- Roddy White is just one of those receivers in the league who is constantly doing something special for his team. He has found a good friend in Matt Ryan, and even though they are playing a very tough Panthers defense, watch for White to have a big day.

Ace**** -- Marion Barber against the 49ers and Marshawn Lynch versus the Chiefs. Just like Lays potato chips, I couldn't pick just one. I mean come on, both are the core of the team to me and with other big names on the team not at their best... these two should be workhorses all day long.

Joker -- Donovan McNabb only because of his comments last weekend following a tie with the Bengals. He supposedly didn't know that it could happen... well Donovan I hope you KNOW what the Ravens defense can do, because it might be a long day (especially coming off of last weekends smearing by the Giants).

Ace**** -- Matt Ryan has been unbelievable this season for the Falcons. No one could have imagined how good he was going to be in his first year with a team that is rebuilding ALL parts of the team. Ryan against an awful Broncos defense equals a big, big day for Matty Ice.

Ace**** -- The Dolphins welcome in the Raiders to Miami... you know what that means? I do. The Dolphins will run the ball 35-40 times, which means if you have Ricky Williams or Ronnie Brown... start them - start them - start them. Nothing more to say, both will have big days.

Ace*** -- DeAngelo Williams was challenged by the organization when they drafted Jonathan Stewart. Well both have flourished this season helping turn around the Panthers in the NFC South. Oh and Williams and Stewart (if he plays) are going against the Lions who are still without a win. Expect big games and lots of touchdowns from them.

Ace** -- Following the on the field blow-up with Interim Head Coach Mike Singletary, Vernon Davis has played hard and well. I think going up against a team like St. Louis (2-7) I expect to see Davis have another solid game.

Joker -- Sorry to you Lions fans out there you might think they are a target this week, but the Lions secondary is to put in nicely... HORRIBLE. Look for them to get shredded by Delhomme, who wants to bounce back from a 4 interception last week.

MIKE SINGLETARY, a Hall of Fame linebacker with the Bears famous (85' defense - remember the Super Bowl shuffle - I don't either but my dad sure loves to remind me), is now the most intimidating force on any NFL sideline. Last week, the 49ers fired then head coach Mike Nolan, and turned to Singletary, then linebackers coach, to take over. I am not sure if the San Francisco will keep him around long, but he deserves a chance. Singletary's post game conference was an instant classic - - one that could be the next Coors' Light Beer commercial - - that followed the teams loss this past Sunday to the Seahawks. Watch out San Francisco, you have a man who is old-school and accepts no-nonsense. If the 49ers were smart they will see what he can do. I mean lets be honest it can not get any worse.

This is the biggest stage for the dirt diamond. It is the World Series. The Philadelphia Phillies have been a part of the Major League's for more than 100 years, but have only been able to muster one championship in that span. On the other side, the Tampa Bay Rays, formerly known as the Devil Rays, have been in existence for just over a decade with NO playoff experience in franchise history. They are a season removed from being the worst team in baseball and they are two seasons removed from a 101 loss season. The Rays have gone from baseball's door mate to the best team in the American League. NO one had the Rays winning more than half of their season games, but they won the AL East with a 97-65 record. The best story throughout all of sports this season (YES it trumps the Boston Celtics beating the Lakers and Michael Phelps gold medals). Game 1 tonight matches up a pair of left-handers: for the Phillies, Cole Hamels, and for the Rays, Scott Kazmir. This series is full of youth and will pit many of the games big young stars against one another. Ryan Howard. B.J. Upton. Chase Utley. James Shields. Evan Longoria. Jason Werth. David Price ("the secret weapon").

Prediction: I can't lie. I jumped on the bandwagon this year. But I was in love with this team last season. I am a sucker for young talent, in any sport, and I was hopeful to see what the future was going to hold. Well the future is now, and the Rays are definitely leading the way in the AL. They are not satisfied with just making it to the World Series, they want it all. The Rays are for REAL! As soon as Game 1 begins the cowbells will be ringing loud and in the end the Rays will be the victor - winning the series 4-2 behind their big bats (19HR's through the playoffs so far - don't be surprised if they break the record of 27 by the 2002 Giants) and stelar defense.

Ace**** -- Clinton Portis against one of, if not THE worst team in the league equals a BIG day for the Redskins offense, but an even bigger day for Portis as he runs all over the Rams behind theose big ole HOGS up front.

Ace** -- Adrian Peterson & Roy Williams. Their alma mater's battle in the Cotton Bowl yesterday and now the former Sooner and the former Longhorn will go at it in their own version of the Red River Rivalry in Minneapolis. Both the key to their teams offense and both should have strong games. (too bad for Roy his Lions won't be able to do what his alma mater Texas did the Sooners yesterday).

Ace*** -- Ronnie Brown & Steve Slaton make the Dolphins-Texans game very intriguing and exciting to watch. The rookie Slaton has been stellar in the backfield for the Texans (even when the back-up quarterback is giving away the game). And the Dolphins Brown has been taking direct snaps in the Wild Phin formation that has been a terror for defenses to try and figure out this season. Both should enjoy BIG days against the opposing teams defense

Jokers -- Phillip Rivers has completed just over 50-percent of his passes the past two weeks while throwing just 2 TD's and 2 INT's. And until LT has his big game (which I still think is going to happen soon) it is not a good day to play him as the Patriots come to town for a little Sunday night football.

Jokers -- The Rams coaching staff. Need I say more. They need a lot of help to get back on track and now traveling to the nation's capital to take on a white hot Redskins team. Not good for them. Good luck with the number pick in the 2009 draft.

There have not been many times since Ricky Williams was drafted by the Miami Dolphins that Williams' name has been headline news related to marijuana. The outspoken running back, has been in the NFL's substance abuse program since 2002, and has previously tested positive for marijuana.

Williams won the Heisman Trophy in 1998, while at Texas, and then became the NFL's rushing champ in 2002, openly said he had "an urge" during the Dolphins bye week, this past week. The week off allowed players time away from football - a little freedom - and that is when Ricky was faced with a decision.

Let's be honest, Ricky Williams has always been open, too open, about his marijuana use. His saga when he quit football, to me, was comical and weird. Now, following a the bye week Williams admitted to the media he overcame the urge to smoke by meditating. He has already been in trouble 4 times for marijuana and if it happens again this time most likely would be his last. Good for you. I think it is great he can go out to the media and say i thought about smoking pot, but didn't because I have too much to lose. Maybe Ricky is a new man... if he is look out because he is a hell of an athlete and player (too bad Ronnie Brown had 5 td's the other week - Ricky may be the back-up again)

Paul Newman 1925-2008

Known best as one of the greatest actors and founder/creator of the Newman's Own brand of organic foods (which over time has donated more than 250-million-dollars) passed away from complications with lung cancer at the age of 83.

In his lifetime, Newman came to be known as many things - an American actor, film director, entrepreneur, humanitarian, World War II veteran (served in the Navy - Pacific theater) and auto racing enthusiast. He won many awards for his brilliance on screen, including an Academy Award and an Emmy Award. He appeared in movies such as: Exodus, The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, Slap Shot, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (where he paired with Robert Redford).

Newman also was an avid racing enthusiast. He belonged to the Sports Car Club of America, where he won several championships, and owned a Sprint Cup car (when it was the Winston Cup) before selling it to Penske Racing - now the #12 car.

This country lost somebody great and Paul Newman will always be remembered.

FOUR - WEEK 4 - College Football THOUGHTS

1. JAVON RINGER is a legitimate HEISMAN candidate. Not because of what he did against the Irish this past Saturday - *39 carries for 201 yards 2 td's*. No his numbers prove my point...LOOK. The kid is just killing every team he goes up against, through four games this season he has carried it 143 times for 699 yards (175 yards per game)... oh and on top of that he is leading the country with 11 td's. Need I say more? I don't think so, because so far Ringer is saying it all for me... and right now I want to see what he can do against the Big Ten. With Ringer, the Spartans are a sleeper that can snake bite those "top" teams (Penn St, Ohio St, Wisconsin, Illinois) of the Big 10.

2. CHASE DANIEL & the Missouri (Mizzou) Tigers are the real deal. Currently ranked fifth in the country, the Tigers are 4-0, while averaging just under 54-points per game. They did come out slow against Buffalo, but come on its Buffalo and the Tigers were able to turn on the after burners blowing away the Bulls. I know some people said last season was a fluke... while others said Daniel and the Tigers were not ready to be the top of the Big XII. Well I am here to say they are in a good spot right now to take over - watch out Oklahoma (before the season I picked Mizzou as my national champ)! Chase Daniel, on Saturday, threw for a career high 439 yards and 2td's. He completed 36-of-43 and at one point completed 20 passes in a row (a new Big XII record). Also Daniel only has thrown 13 incompletions over the last three games. On the season, Daniel has completed 101-of-133 passes for 1412 yards and 12 td's - crazy numbers through four games... they have only played one legitimate team - the Fighting Illini a week 1 52-42 victory - and the Big 10 is down this season, so they must be impressive in all of their conference games to gain that respect.

3. What is W-V-U doing? Two games in a row now for the Mountaineers have been bad. They will likely drop out of the top 25 following their second loss in a row... leaving them 1-2 on the season. East Carolina - led by their senior quarterback Patrick Pinkney - beat up and down the Mountaineers. Then, after a week off, headed out west to the Rockies, where Mr. John Denver was no help, and mountain momma became the evil stepmother. Colorado's young talented backfield (rushed for 187 yards) was too much for West Virginia's even more potent run game (311 yards rushing - White had 148 and 2 td's - Devine had 133). Most of the game head coach Bill Stewart looked confused standing alone on the sideline... and poorly managed the clock when it mattered most - finally falling 17-14 in overtime. Pat White who is usually superman-like in these situations wasn't able to save the day. After all that said, the Mountaineers can still go BCS bowling - all they have to do is win the Big East - which is easier said than done and USF looks strong.

4. ND may have lost to Michigan State, but the better team won. Javon Ringer was too good, even for the resilient Notre Dame defense. And the hobbled Charlie Weis couldn't figure out what to do without a running game. To some a step back, but I think it is all part of the learning process. The Irish are loaded with underclassmen talent - Michael Floyd & Golden Tate - and are coming off the worst season in school history. A loss this season hurts more, but also fuels the fire. With a much lighter schedule and some shining youthful stars the Irish are looking better this season. So calm down, take a breath, and let it unfold because from your couch all you can do is yell and curse at the flat screen.

GYM CLASS HEROES

THE QUILT - To describe this in one word - fresh - if I had to choose another it would be - cool. That is what this CD is. It is both fresh and cool. The sound and vibes make you just want to bob your head and just chill out listening to these guys. A fun sound - blending rock and hip-hop - it is like very few others out there. If I had to choose who I would compare GCH with... it would be in a group with - Linkin Park, Shwayze & Flobots - don't freak out I know what your thinking - "how did he come to that conclusion? none of them aren't alike?"... Well they kinda are. Think about it - Linkin Park blends the rock and hip-hop, they just do it with a harder, edgier rock sound. Shwayze just has that cool, hip-hop, pop, rock blend with flows as wiLd as Travis McCoy. And the Flobots rap over a rock, hip-hop sound too (they are just real politically charged). Gym Class Heroes is a little of all that, while maintaining their own twisted flavor. If you are looking for something different and crazy cool - this is it.

7. "L.A.X Files" - The Game - Off the new L.A.X CD (which is possible album of the year) that has too many hits to count.

6. "Live Your Life" - T.I. ft. Rihanna - Just a cool sounding song. T.I. the King and one of the hottest artists out there right now. Meaning you got a damn good song.

5. "Roamin'" - Shwayze - A man that may seem odd to many people (including myself) but he has combined Cali cool with hip-hop style and made it work, this song is an example.

4. "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" - Darius Rucker - Yes the lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish, switched it up and went country. I was a little nervous when I first heard the idea, but I was the first to believe. His voice works and the album rocks. Real good stuff even if you hate on the down home sounds.

3. "Whatever You Like" - T.I. - I am just waiting for Paper Trail to come out. Best single he's dropped.

2. "Lock Lockdown" - Kanye West - The man is just different. he may complain and bitch about awards or life, but he rocked this song. I don't like the electronic voice box, but for this song it works. Just another side of Kanye no one saw coming (and now Lil' Wayne wants to sing).

1. "Peace Sign/Index Down" - Gym Class Heroes - These guys are out there like Shwayze, but this song is cool and different. Just something with a FRESH sound...

Why disrespect the national anthem of the country that pays you millions to play ball? Why say that and then name drop Obama? Maybe I don't get it because I am white, but that shouldn't matter. If people/players like Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, etc... can go overseas to play for TEAM USA, what makes this guy hate the anthem those players stood for in the Olympics in Beijing? I know he has some issues and he has been in trouble before (admitted in an interview to smoking marijuana, street racing, and now this) but where does he get off saying that.

Good for him voicing his opinion and flexing his 1st Amendment right, cool, go for it. Just remember we live in a day and age where news is almost IMMEDIATE. Even Superman had a weakness - this may be your kryptonite.

But if this is what you want, I got an idea for you - follow Josh Childress over to Europe, because this country is full of athletes ready to fill your shoes.

8. My Best Friends Girl (Sept. 19th) - Dane Cook in another comedy... It looks funny, but I am still a little skeptical. I just hope it is better than the others he has done. Otherwise stick to Tourgasm.

7. Pride and Glory (Oct. 24th) - Another story of Police scandal and corruption, but this one takes place within a multi-generational family of NYC police officers. What makes this one seem better than the rest, Edward Norton, Colin Farrell, and Jon Voight all star as members of the family. A drama with I am sure a lot of kicking action.

6. Appaloosa (Sept. 17th) - A wild west tale about a Sheriff and his side kick who try to take back a town from a killer land owner. Something different.

5. Body of Lies (Oct. 10th) - A wild and crazy movie about the uncovering of a major terrorist cell starring Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio. A lot of action and a ton of explosions. Another movie by Ridley Scott (American Gangster, Black Hawk Down & Gladiator), I am sold on that alone. He is one of the best in the business now.

4. Eagle Eye (Sept. 26th) - Shia LaBeouf takes the lead, as this movie winds through twists and turns, all directed by a women he has never met. I am not sure what it is all about, but it looks great (he did a great job in Transfomers) and the tagline - "If you want to live, you will obey."

3. Miracle at St. Anna (Sept. 26th) - "A Spike Lee Joint" that takes place during WWII in a small Tuscan village. The four black american soldiers, all part of the 92nd Buffalo Soldier Division, fight behind enemy lines to save each other. Just watch the trailer it looks amazing.

2. Max Payne (Oct. 17th) - Based on a video game I never played, Mark Wahlburg stars as a DEA agent teamed up with a hot assassin as they are hunted by police and the mob. I know enough said.

1. Righteous Kill (Sept. 12th) - Two of the best all-time are together finally headlining a movie. Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino, both Academy Award winners, come together as two NYC veteran detectives who try to solve a recent murder that connects to one from their past. I don't think it even matters what this movie is about. These two greats together, equals a must see flick!

NASCAR's has their own version of Lebron James. His name is JOEY LOGANO and he has won at every level he has raced at. A career which all began when he was just two-years-old. His parents, when he was 10, lied about his birth certificate so he could race with the 12-14. In return he won the first three of his races... however, people quickly found out he was too young and was kicked out.

Since he began racing at around two years old, Joey Logano has been dominate behind the wheel of a race car, while his parents have shelled out just over one-million dollars to further his career. And it looks as though this is all going to pay off. Logano has signed a long-term deal with Joe Gibbs Racing. SLICED BREAD is ready to race. That is what he loves to do.

Some may be asking yourself, why I call him sliced bread? Well, that is the nickname he has been deemed with. While still a youngster racing, Randy LaJoie after seeing him race, called the kid "the best thing since sliced bread" and it stuck. With that, Sliced Bread will have all eyes on him tomorrow afternoon, when he gets set for his Sprint Cup debut from Richmond, for the Cevy Rock'n'Roll 400. He will be taking over the #20 ride, full-time next season, when Tony Stewart leaves JGR.

DAVID PRICE

I can't wait to see this kid pitch for the Rays. The hype and the talk are non-stop. With all the pitchers problems throughout the MLB (Joba, Prior, etc...) the Rays are taking extra time to make sure Price is ready.

Price has been a star since he was in little league. He ran into a little trouble freshman year, at Vanderbilt, it was all mental, but with the help of family and coaches, he has dominated up until now.

After all the hype and praise I just want to see what the former #1 overall pick has to offer.

And for once stop hating on ND, you got what you wanted last season, but don't expect the same this year. It is over and done with and the new season features a lighter schedule. Saturday afternoon won't come fast enough.
